Self discipline, self control, flexibility and stillness
Aim to teach deep breathing, patience and slow imaginative movements. The entire class is designed around passive movements and little interaction between children. This model does not build upon children's innate love for brisk movement but instead reinforces quiet time.
At the end of every KID-FIT class is a stretching section. We recognize the importance of keeping children's flexibility intact and stretching children's rapidly growing muscles. There is also a relaxation segment to help children learn to focus inward while they calmly finish class. Between the stretching and relaxation, children learn to soothe themselves after being vigorously active for the majority of class time. And for a short period of time, well within their attention span limits.
